Oh noez, I've caught BadWinter! And it feels kinda good!
While to me there's no such thing as a bad winter, The Flowfield Unity is one of my regular favorites and now that it's back from a semi-dead state and has infected me with the desire to tell you all about it, go have a look around.

Comics That Inspired Me: Cat And Girl
Yes, Peanuts and Mutts are two comic strips that started me down the path that is the hobby I enjoy the most, but it wasn't until I started reading webcomics did I realize I had "people." Comics That Inspired Me: Cat And Girl
It's pretty obvious that I was drawn to Cat and Girl because hey, it's a cat, and a girl! There's a vampire in there, too. Also they're hilarious and brililant and drawn great, and I seriously considered cutting my strip to once a week if I could make it half as fantastic as these, but why I'm linking to this particular strip is because the punchline sums up my life.
Obligations from Cat and Girl by Dorothy Gambrell.

The Best Reason I've Heard.
The Best Reason I've Heard.
I guess real-life video cameras in the movies don't have image stabilization. Don't get me started.

Things I have seen; one I haven't.
Have you missed me, my friends? Eh. Maybe I shouldn't ask questions like that, just like I shouldn't post videos of my cat dancing without a disclaimer that no bodily fluids are leaving any part of him as he dances because that's not how he rolls. (For real!) Things I have seen; one I haven't.
We haven't seen many movies this year as my mum is hiving up again, but what we have seen have been good ones.
Syriana was better than Ishtar, but Syriana does not end with a musical number. I recommend it anyway.
Lady In The Water got bad reviews, and I'm not sure why. It was clever, and I'm not going so far as saying I wish I had water deep enough for a Narf to live in, because that's a whole load of responsibility I'm not equipped for, but it was very good.
Down By Law, the Jim Jarmusch movie with Tom Waits, Roberto Benigni, and John Lurie was fascinating. It is a sad and beautiful world, man. I love it.
The Producers with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick was incredible. I feel like I'm late to the bandwagon, but I love that movie so much it's scary. No really, I'm scared. I usually don't enjoy fun, but I always did love a good Mel Brooks movie, and this is one of the best.
Other than that, Nan and I have caught some good stuff on tv, like Undertaking Betty, which is great Welsh town/Christopher Walken goodness--with cats, even; Gold Diggers of 1935, which has a young old Rose from Titanic in it along with crazy mathematicians and Buzby Berkley routines; Fascination with Ioan Gruffudd's gf as a wacky nympho with interesting first-aid techniques; Valley of Hunted Men, which is a 1942 western about Nazi rubber-rustlers; and several Blackadder and Benny Hill episodes. Good times!
Yesterday I discovered a webcomic I like so utterly and completely, I read the entire archive in one sitting. Without clicking away for any reason at all. I laughed, that's how good this comic is. Journey to Mt. Moriah is that comic. Go read it, and be entertained.
I still have not seen comet C/2006 P1, or McNaught as the Earthlings call it. I have been fortunate to catch a few comets in my time, and every one of them impress the hell out of me. Ten years ago, I saw Hyakatake and Hale-Bopp, and I remember being happy for days after seeing them. Even in 1986, when I thought Venus was comet Halley because despite my opinion at the time I was not a bright child, I had the comet bug. So I'm watching. And waiting. Sunset today is my last shot to catch it, according to Starry Night.
I got a Starbird ranking on The Halley Project, you know. That game was great. If I could rank video games in migraines, it would get a ten. I crash-landed on Titan, and startled the freaky green wildlife. Those were the days.

My weekend in candy-coated nutshell with letters on it:
Saturday: It's so long ago, that I can't remember. Cypher was good. What I liked about it most was that it didn't have a lot of impossible stuff going on in it, so it beats, say, any movie involving computers made in Hollywood. Yay. My weekend in candy-coated nutshell with letters on it:
Sunday: was day three after taking my allergy pill, so I had a nosebleed. I love my sinuses. I also finished the "results" of the first round in Galactic Idol.
Today, I finally got the paint to fix my car. What happened to the car, you may wonder, and I will of course tell you. We had a wind storm that came up a few weeks back, and I had been telling anyone who would listen that the neighbor's chimney was looking unwell, but, of course, the antenna attached to the chimney finally cut through it and bricks went a-flyin'. Two bricks landed on our roof, one chip of a brick bounced off my car. My poor, sweet, car.
People tell me my car's old, so I had to wait three weeks for the color to be made up. "GA," is the shade my car is painted. I like to call it dark plum, but hey, "GA" it is.
The label on the paint is fun. Basically I'm going to die or spawn three-headed creatures some day just for opening the bottle, but the color is perfect, so for once I've done something good for my car. Tomorrow it goes for its physical, so that should bring more entertaining tales. If not, I'll rehash some old ones.
(on my radio is Fluke's cover of Blue Monday. Yay!)

The hardest part of babbling is giving a title to each segment.
Now wafting through my headphones: Planet Claire by the B-52s. The hardest part of babbling is giving a title to each segment.
I should warn everyone that doesn't know me well from other places that I am extremely random. I've admitted it, but I'm not taking any measures to cure myself yet. Generally what happens is I start talking about a movie and end up discussing the poor drainage on those resin planter urns. You know the ones I'm talking about, they fill up with rain water and eventually the stuff planted in them drowns and only ground cover survives and takes over every inch of the soil.
I used to be able to multi-task really well when I was young, but just now I was taking a quiz that would tell me what kind of panties I am, and at the same time I was taking one of those surveys that always promises to give me a dollar if I tell them what kind of paper towels I like, and I sat here for a few seconds wondering why the panty quiz needed to know my zipcode, annual income and highest education level.
The panty quiz told me I'm a style of panties I don't even like and then tried to sell me underwear. I should have known it would come to that, it always does.
Anyway.
I don't know why, but I'm still watching American Idol. It became rather uninteresting two weeks ago with the departure of Constantine--who may not have been the best singer in some people's minds, but was around my age and therefore didn't make me feel pervy for liking him--and I expect it will just go downhill from here. This is where I usually say I won't get into the show again if it comes back next year. I say that every year.
I am also waiting for Star Wars, Revenge of the Sith, and I can brag that I'll be waiting an extra-long time, because I'm waiting for the DVD. (I like watching movies in a room with people I know. Plus, I'm busy.) I started celebrating the last two weeks by playing the soundtrack--one track a day--until the 19th, because I'm that much of a nerd. Tonight I hit track 8, and that song is creepy; totally sounds unlike Star Wars music when it starts out. Speaking of which, I hope Meco does a Revenge of the Sith tribute.
Channeling my fandom into that keenspace site of mine seemed like the next logical step one very late night in March. I rarely go through with the things I think up at four in the morning, and my comic could be a good reason to stick to that rule, but like my randomness, I enjoy it.
Okay, that's enough. Must...stop...now.
